-The Day Before-
Smack! “Fail! Try again!” Austria yelled. Even though you were on the other side of the estate, you could still hear him yell at his student, Saphir. You sighed and shook your head then flipped a page in the book you were reading. You weren’t going to do anything because this was a normal thing. Saphir would come over for her lessons, miss ONE note on a D- or E-level song she’s never heard before, then Austria would go psycho warlord on her; she would yell at him, they would go at it for about an hour, then Saphir would leave in a huff.
Smack! “Again! How do you mess up the first note?!”
“Maybe I’d be able to get it right if you’d STOP HITTING ME WITH THAT STUPID RULER!!!”
“Hey, what are you...” Smack! “OW!!!”
“Don’t like it, do you?!”
“That was uncalled for!”
“You’re uncalled for!” Smack! “OW! Give me that!” Smack! “OW! What kind of aristocrat hits girls?!”
“What kind of girl hits her music teacher?!”
This went on for a good hour before things got quiet then you saw Saphir stomp past you. “Hello, (Name)!” She growled then left, slamming the door behind her.
“Hi, Austria.” You said, not even having to look up from your book to know he was there. “Hi, (Name).” He sighed. “Still determined to teach her The Nutcracker Suite?” You asked. “If it kills her.” You felt the weight on the couch shift and guessed the Austria sat next to you. You closed your book and looked at him. He was pinching the bridge of his nose, sighing. You put your hand on his shoulder. “Austria, why don’t you go and practice your songs? England’s party is tomorrow and it already eight.” England had entrusted preparing the music instrumentals to Austria for the party he was holding.
“I know.” Austria said. He fixed his glasses back onto his face and recovered his ‘O holier than thou’ apparel. “I will get right on it.” Austria stood up and headed towards his study, where his piano and violin were, but stopped. “You’re not coming with me?” He asked, not looking at you. You smiled. You put down your book and joined Austria on his way to his study.
-The Day Of-
Austria had left early got make sure the other musicians he was supposed to be performing with knew what songs they were going to be playing. You went along with him and watched the practice. For their first time playing as a group, they were pretty good.
Once the party had started, you and Austria just enjoyed it. He wasn’t set to begin playing until after the final singer was finished, so you had him until then. While you loved that, you couldn’t wait until everyone heard what you had last night. It was amazing. Austria had...
“(Name)?” Austria called, snapping you out of your thoughts. “(Name), did you hear my question?” You felt yourself blush. “Huh? Oh, no. Sorry, I’m just so excited for everyone to hear the music you showed me last night.”
Austria smiled. “Really? I should have figured. My music is nothing short of the incredible, but I would like it if you paid attention to me.”
“I’m sorry, Austria. What were you asking?”
Austria held his hand out to you. “I was asking if you’d like to dance with me.” You blushed again, but a different kind that only went across your face. You took his hand and, taking that as a yes, Austria pulled you to the dance floor.
For a while you danced, until the final singer was done. You applaud for her as she shyly ran off of the stage and to find her husband. “(Name), it’s time for me to go up and play, but I will save the song I showed you last night will be last.” He said to you and walked towards the stage. He sat at the piano and began playing. Some of the other musicians had left once the last singer was done and Germany – who was, for some unknown reason, wearing a Santa hat and elf ears – came up with Austria and took the place of a bassist who had left the stage and Prussia did a same, but with a violin instead.
They all played together for a while before Austria turned to them. “You may leave, now. This last piece I wish to play alone.” No one questioned him. They all set their instruments down and left him on the stage, but stayed close to see what Austria had planned. Austria stood up and, to all those who were watching, said, “Before I begin, I would live for (Name) to come up to the stage with me.” You blushed and felt yourself being pushed to the stage. Austria held out his hand and you took it. He helped you up on the stage and pulled you behind the piano.
“Sit.” He said. You did so. He sat next to you. “And, now, a gift for my fiancé, (Name).” The lights dimmed, catching more people’s attention, and Austria began to play.
No words could describe how incredible it was. The song was basically a medley of Christmas carols, but more. The songs had been changed into something beyond...ANYTHING! There was just no clear way to describe it. Amazing? Awesome? Incredible? Beautiful? A sheer piece of musical genius? No. Those only seemed to insult it and you felt ashamed for even thinking them. You closed your eyes, hoping to absorb the music better, hoping to find the right words to describe how the music made you feel. The only thing it did, though, was serve to distract you more. You gently rested your head on Austria’s shoulder, careful not to disrupt him. He didn’t mind and continued playing is if you weren’t there.
By the time the song was done, everyone at the party had been listening and cheered. Even Prussia! Austria gently shrugged you off of his shoulder and stood and bowed. He took your hand and walked off of the stage. “So, what did you think?” He asked.
“I...I don’t know what to think. That was beyond amazing, Austria! There are no words on earth that can describe who incredible that was.”
Austria smirked and conceited smirk. “I knew you would say that. I’ve been working on this piece almost every day since last year.” You hugged Austria. “Thank you, Austria.”
“For you, (Name), anything. Now, let’s get going.”
“Of course.” You pecked his lips and you both left.
When you got home, Austria said, “(Name), I just realized...I’m in the mood to make a bit more music.”
“You mean you’re not tired of your piano after all that?” You asked.
“Who said I’d be playing my piano?”
