"Come on say it."
"Not a chance."
"Please? For me?"
"I said no!"
"Don't you have to be bothering someone else?!"
"Not until 9."
Spain sighed as he watched Norway and Iceland have their usual argument. He couldn’t remember the last time he had been called 'big brother'. After most of his little colonies grew up and got their independence, he had talked very little to any of them. How he missed the days when they all were together. Maybe he could try and follow Norway's example and just ask, but who should he try it with first?
A sudden, random memory from his past hit him like a ton of bricks.
~Le Flashback; Ohonhon~
Spain descended his ship and look around the land. Not much out of the ordinary; some trees, grass, a couple birds, the Sunlight was harsh by normal person standards, but he was used to it by now. No one seemed to be around, though. "I claim these lands in the name of España~!" He announced happily and then turned to the crew that had accompanied him. "Men, search for any natives or flags of other countries, vale?"
"Yes, sir!" The men all said in unison. They marched off of the boat and went off to follow orders. Spain, in the mean time, planned on taking in the scenery and setting up a small camp for himself. He had complete confidence that no others nations had been here yet. He could feel it, but something did seem…odd.
The Sun had long since set, and when his men returned, his suspicions were confirmed correct; no sign of any human life anywhere as of yet. This was a good sign, though he still couldn't shake the odd feeling of being…watched. Like there was someone there. Oh well, he'd have to think more on it some other time; for now, bed.
Several weeks into it, and still no sign of any other people, but, oddly enough, items had gone missing; food, blankets, and other small things were stolen from people's tents. It took everything Spain could to make sure his men didn't start accusing and killing each other over it. It was time to go home, now, and hopefully everything would return to normal.
No, though. Far from the little island, which Spain had dubbed (country name), little bits of food, clothes and other such items still went missing.
"I'm finally going to catch you." Spain whispered to himself from his hiding space. He was finally going to get whoever had been taking everyone's things. It was simple, late at night, when everyone will be asleep – since that's when most of the thefts occurred – he would lay out some bait and wait to see if anyone would come to take it. Prior to that, he would make sure all other items were secure and all rooms were locked.
Hours of waiting and nothing happened. "This was stupid. I should just give up." He turned and almost fell over. "Ay dios mio!" He yelled, placing his heart over his chest. His widened, emerald green eyes met with confused [e/c] ones as he tried to steady his breathing. "Wh-who are you?"
"I don't know." You responded with a shrug of your shoulder. "I don't have a name."
"We-well…where did you come from?"
You shrugged again. "I don't know."
"Well… what are you doing here?" He was sure you would do the same thing again, but you didn't. Instead, you held out your hands. "Do you have some food?" You asked innocently.
"Well, I tried to get some from the place where all the food is, but it had a chain on it, so I couldn't."
"Oh, so you're the one who's been taking all of the things." He sat down and picked you up. "Looks like I finally found our little thief." You felt frightened by this man now, and shook accordingly, but his sweet smile was keeping you from screaming and running away. "You know you really shouldn't be stealing from other people. It's not right."
Spain shook his head. "No, little one, it's not. You can get in a lot of trouble and you've been making a lot of people very upset."
"I can? I have?!" Your tiny body shook more and you started crying. "I-I didn't know." You sniffled and cried until Spain pulled you close to him and rocked you. "Don't cry now. It's ok." He wiped your eyes with his sleeve. "B-but you said-"
"Forget about that. You're young; you didn't know any better, so it's ok. I don't think your parents would approve, though."
"I don't have those." You said quietly, looking down at the brown fabric of a blanket you had stolen and wrapped around your body like a dress.
"You don't? You don't have…anyone?"
You shook your head. "No. I never did. It was just me until you came on this giant wood thing."
Spain stopped speaking for a moment. So she was on the island… alone… she must have either gotten stuck there from an accident or… Spain grinned and hugged you tightly. "Do you know what this means?! You must be my little sister!"
The outburst was sudden and you weren't quite sure how to react. "S-sister?"
"Si! You're my sister! Oh, this is so great! I'm so happy!"
You looked up at the possibly insane man holding you. You didn't even know his name, yet, and he was calling you family. He must've been crazy. Oh well, might as well play along.
Spain stood up with you still in his arms. "I don't think I could be any happier right now! Oh! I can't wait tell everyone about my little sister… uh… do you have a name? Probably not. I'll call you (Name). Is that ok with you? It fits you. (Name), mi hermana… I'm Antonio, by the way. I'm also Spain, but you can call me big brother, too." He droned on happily, not letting you get a single word in.
Such a strange man, but…he was willing to welcome you like family. That was nice. Wherever he was taking you was probably nice, too. You could imagine lots of food and warm clothes and all sorts of things that made you happy. It filled up a tiny little hole in your chest that you hadn't even realized was there. You smiled and nuzzled against. "Big brother~," You cooed happily.
Spain was just about ready to explode at hearing that. You were just too cute~! Why? Why do this to him, you adorable little thing, you? He brought you to his room and placed you on his bed, pulling the blanket over you. He couldn't be bothered with sleep now. Not when he was so happy. "There. Now you sleep, ok?"
You nodded. "Yes, big brother." You snuggled into the warmth of the bed and yawned before falling asleep. He bit his lower lip to contain his excitement. "Good girl." He sat down in a chair by a table covered in maps and blew out the candle he had held by his side that entire night for light.
He smiled happily and scanned the room, hoping to find you. "Of course it should be (Name)! Who else but?!" Finally seeing you, he jumped up from his seat and skipped over to you. "Hola, (Name)~!" He cheered. You looked at him. "Spain? Did you need something?"
"Si! I want you to say it again!"
You arched and eyebrow. "Say what again?"
"Call me big brother. Please?"
You laughed at him. "Since when did you turn into Norway? I'm way too old to say that." He pouted in response. "Come on. Just once?"
"No, Toni. I'm not saying it."
"Please. Please. Please. Wait, how did Norway do it?" He smiled and mimicked Norway's speech pattern. "Big brother."
"Spain, I mean it."
"Big brother~! Big brother~! Big brother~! Big brother~! Big brother~!"
You got up and ran, but Spain followed you, holding his arms out for a hug. "BIIIG BROOOTHHEEEEERRRRRR~!!!!"
"I will never say it~!!!"
"YES! YOU! WILL!" He managed to tackle you down and hugged. Instead of being mad at him, you laughed. "Ok. Goodness! I'll say it!"
"Yay! Now say it!"
"You're my big brother. Happy now? Can you get off me?"
"I'm always happy and ok." He stood up, pulling you up with him. "That really made my day."
"I'm sure it did." You said, rolling your eyes. "Now, I'm going back to what I was doing. You can go and do…I don't know… go bug Romano."
"Yay! Roma!" He skipped off to find and bother said Italian. You shook your head at him. "I can't believe I was raised by that man."
